St George's Primary School Portland

Mental Health and Wellbeing

At St George's we are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our pupils, their parents and carers, our staff and the wider community. We promote a culture of positive mental health and teach our pupils to understand and how to help to their mental health and wellbeing.

Mrs Bowman is the Senior Mental Health Lead. Please contact her if you have any worries or concerns regarding your child's mental health and wellbeing. In addition, if you are worried about your own wellbeing, Mrs Bowman can help you too.

In school we have three members of staff who are ELSA trained - Emotional Literacy Support Assistant. They worked with pupils individually to support their emotional wellbeing. Our ELSAs are Mrs Barnes, Mrs Wills and Mrs Souster.

We work closely with the Mental Health in Schools Team, MHST. They work with pupils individually, deliver assemblies or workshops and provide regular training for our staff. If you would like to find out more about the MHST, please click here.
